Setting an Intention

It has been a few years since I began my journey as an entrepreneur. The journey has included its fair share of ups and downs, but what keeps me going with rigour is my intention to add value, make a meaningful difference to the people I work with, and remain fully committed to them.

An intention should be stated as a positive outcome-for example, “The intention is to win” rather than “The intention is not to lose.”

How can we set effective intentions? Here are some reflective questions to guide the process:

  • What is the objective with respect to my goal?

  • What is my intent in working towards this goal?

  • Where is my focus while setting this intention-on what I want, or on what I want to avoid?

Setting a clear and constructive intention in any area of life can be a powerful experience. It can clarify our ‘why’ and serve as a driving force in the pursuit of our goals.
